Prof. Abhishek Mishra
Prof. Mishra passed out with an MSc in Management from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, UK in 1998. In September 2001, he was selected for M.Phil in Management Studies from the University of Cambridge with scholarship from Cambridge Commonwealth Trust (CCT) and a range of many other scholarships. He was awarded MPhil with Distinction and was offered a place to continue for the PhD Program in Management – conceived, developed and delivered jointly by University of Cambridge (UK) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. He then completed Leaders in Development Program from Keneddy School Of Government, Harvard University, USA. After completing his PhD, he moved to the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad where he worked as a Professor in Business Policy Area, teaching and consulting extensively in the Strategy and Innovation area for both corporate and government sector clients. He then resigned his job at IIM Ahmedabad and joined Politics. He contested general elections and was elected MLA from Lucknow North constituency in March 2012 and became a Cabinet Minister in UP heading multiple ministries like Vocational Education, Skill Development, Science and Technology, Biotechnology, Protocol and was Attached to the Chief Minister of UP over five years. He is often hailed as and stands out as a poster boy of change in Indian Politics – someone educated at top institutions in the world, who resigned an IIMA job to join politics. He brought significant development projects to his constituency which astonished most of the opposition. He spearheaded various development initiatives in the state of UP between 2012-17. Whether it is Bill Gates or representatives from Mitsubishi, HCL or Toshiba, Prof. Mishra has been a part of the team that attracted investment to the state. He is the one who was usually sent to represent the state at international conferences, and meetings of the GST Council. He was appointed as the National Secretary of the Party in 2017 and continues to work to promote the idea of new socialism and democracy. He also continues to serve as the Spokesperson for the Party since 2012. He has written two books – “Power of One” and “The Uncommon Life”. He has been covered extensively by top media houses – both print and electronic – in India and the world!
